Rational UG Webcast-Build Forge

UG users: We are very happy to announce a new webcast that we are
hosting together with the brand new IBM division, IBM Rational Build
Forge. David Brauneis and Leigh Williamson from Build Forge are slated
to speak. Please join us!

Service Oriented Builds for Service Oriented Architectures

Applications that are designed to fit the Service Oriented
Architecture (SOA) are known as Composite Applications. Composite
applications have additional challenges for build and release
processes over traditional applications. For instance, composite
applications are often made up of elements in different source
languages, that need to be built on different platforms, and that
require coordination across multiple machines in order to produce.
Processing of composite applications frequently requires tools beyond
traditional compilers and object link editors. Rational Build Forge
provides build and release automation for development organizations.
Come to this session to learn more about automating build and release
of composite applications using Rational Build Forge. This session
will cover additonal considerations for automating and example
processes for using Rational Build Forge to build and release
applications for a Service Oriented Architecture.

SOA Governance - Webinar Series - Nov 28th, 2007 at 12pm EST

$Account.OrganizationName

We are very excited to bring you this event as part of our Ready for IBM Rational software Comes to You series.

Policy-based SOA Governance for Rational - Strategies for Effective SOA Development

November 28th, 2007 - 12pm EST - sponsored by WebLayers

Webinar Description:

This session will discuss how to automate the design and deployment of a governance process that will guide development teams, as you transition to SOA. We will highlight WebLayers Center integration across the Rational Software Delivery platform with particular emphasis on use with IBM Rational Asset Manager.

The WebLayers Center family of products provides a policy-based approach to automate what has traditionally been a manual, labor intensive process of defining and enforcing governance. WebLayers Center ensures compliance throughout the SDLC to provide the necessary visibility and guidance to govern effectively.

WebLayers Center seamlessly integrates and provides governance across key products in the IBM Rational Software Delivery Platform, including IBM Rational Application Developer, IBM Rational ClearCase, IBM Rational BuildForge and the new IBM Rational Asset Manager. With broad support that spans across the IBM Rational software portfolio, as well as other IBM families of products, WebLayers governs the entire software development and SOA life cycles.

Key takeaways:

  • How to leverage and extend existing SDLC and IT management processes to meet new SOA challenges
  • Types of policies, standards and best practices needed at various stages in the lifecycle
  • How to apply the appropriate level of governance and automate enforcement
  • How, where and when to enforce policy and maintain compliance
  • Ways to encourage governance adoption by all constituents
  • Gaining the visibility to effectively measure your governance efforts

Software Delivery Best Practices - Webinar Series - Oct 17, 2007 at 11am EDT

$Account.OrganizationName

We are very excited to bring you this event as part of our Ready for IBM Rational software Comes to You series.

From Chaos to Continuous Improvement: Leveraging RUP Software Delivery Best Practices for CMMI® -featuring Carey Schwaber, Senior Analyst from Forrester Research

October 17th, 2007 - 11am EDT - sponsored by Wipro Technologies

Webinar Description:
Looking to achieve faster adoption of CMMI processes? Implement agile approaches to process tailoring & improvement? Reduce process management overhead by finding more reuse? While leveraging CMMI for business advantage is a key goal for many organizations, cutting down on the definition cycle time and fast tracking implementation can be elusive. CMMI is a framework to help integrate traditionally separate organizational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities, provide guidance for quality processes, and a point of reference for appraising current processes. While CMMI describes the "What" of Software Development Methodology, IBM Rational Unified Process aims to detail the "How". To fully benefit from this combination, existing gaps need to be addressed.

This complimentary 1 hour educational webcast will explore:

  • Common software delivery best practices for CMMI that can reduce costs, redundancy, implementation risks and improve quality throughout the software delivery lifecycle
  • Synergies and solutions to gaps found when mapping RUP to CMMI process areas
  • A demo of a new Ready for Rational solution developed in Rational Method Composer authored by Wipro Technologies that provides templates, checklists, guidelines for the process areas missing in RUP that are mandated by CMMI

Source Code Analysis - Webinar Series - Oct 3, 2007 at 12pm EDT

$Account.OrganizationName

We are very excited to bring you this event as part of our Ready for IBM Rational software Comes to You series.

Secure, High Quality Code with IBM Rational Application Developer & IBM Rational ClearCase - Klocwork Source Code Analysis Integrated with your Software Lifecycle

October 3rd, 2007 - 12pm EDT - sponsored by Klocwork

Webinar Description: The introduction of security and quality bugs in your code can be prevented by enabling developers to find bugs early in the software lifecycle before they check-in new code. This requires a source code analysis solution tightly integrated with both Rational Application Developer and Rational ClearCase.

In this presentation you will see a demonstration of Klocwork's automated source code analysis used directly within the Rational Application Developer environment, enabling the best defense against check-in of potentially crippling coding errors.

Migrating IBM Rational TestManager projects to ClearQuest test management

Here is the information you need to know for migrating IBM Rational TestManager projects to ClearQuest test management by

Komal Mirchandani (komal.mirchandani@in.ibm.com), Software engineer, IBM

This article explains how IBM® Rational® TestManager® users can migrate their assets to IBM® Rational® ClearQuest® test management. It gives the overall picture of migrating existing test plans, test cases, test scripts, and so forth using the Migration wizard.

The target audience for this article is users who are already using Rational TestManager and would like to explore the enhanced features of the test management solutions by ClearQuest, coupled with the capabilities of ClearQuest itself, without losing their assets.

Benefits of migrating to ClearQuest test management

  • IBM Rational TestManager supports only a native client, while ClearQuest test management supports Eclipse, as well as native and Web clients
  • The logging mechanism of ClearQuest test management contains a TPTP log that can be imported easily into any standard test management solution, which is lacking in Rational TestManager.
  • ClearQuest test management supports integration with Rational Performance Tester apart from the usual integration with Rational Functional Tester, Rational Robot, and so on provided by Rational TestManager
  • The test management solution provided by ClearQuest test management supports geographically distributed teams through the IBM® ClearQuest MultiSite® feature, which can't be accomplished with Rational TestManager
